Zombie Run

As discussed previously here, we went to the Run For Your Lives event in Knightstown last weekend to watch our nieces Sarina and Samantha do the 5k zombie obstacle course with Sarina’s sister-in-law, Katy.  They had a good time running and we had a good time watching.  Aside from 5 kilometers of running through fields, woods and creeks, there were various obstacles such as a smoke filled room with electric shocks, monkey bars over slime pits, ladders, slides and, Oh by the way…  ZOMBIES! 

Each runner was given a belt with three flags on it which the zombies tried to take.  If you made it through with all of your flags, you survived.  If you lost a flag, you were infected and if you lost all your flags you died.  It was somewhat of a team sport, so Katy and Sarina sacrificed themselves so that Samantha survived.

There was quite the production line producing volunteer zombies.  Zombies had to bring their own costumes, but there were staff artists there to apply various wounds, blood and guts.  Some of it was quite realistic!

There was no doubt that it was challenging and the girls were pretty worn out by the end.  They had fun though and are already planning on returning next year!
